May prompt fill: Battle's End (Drabble, G)

For the prompt: Find a heart that will love you at your worst and arms that will hug you at your weakest.

Lucius' pulse races under her trembling fingers. The tendons in his wrist are as hard as stone. Narcissa leans closer to him, her eyes never moving from the bunch of her robes over her knees. She presses their arms together. She breathes deep. Soon she can hear Lucius' breathing match her rhythm. His rapid pulse slows; his clenched fists relax. Narcissa closes her eyes in silent gratitude, then slips her arm around his waist. She rests her cheek on his shoulder, touches her forehead to his jaw. "We live," she whispers. "You. Me. Our son. Our family. We still live."
